SOLD OUT - CRFT 2022 Chardonnay – The Blefari Vineyard

PICCADILLY VALLEY – ADELAIDE HILLS

95 points – Ned Goodwin MW, Halliday Wine Companion :
”Hand-picked and wild fermented in tank before transfer to oak on full solids (35% new) where it remained for seven months. Very fine, as much by virtue of its relaxed mid-weighted gait, as its tension. Yet this is tension imparted by an intuitive hand, an innate comprehension that any effete obsession with pH and the shrill acidity that it encourages is not befitting of this land. Toasted hazelnuts, apricot pith, curd and truffled cheese, not dissimilar to good meursault, as it once was. Long, nicely chewy and strident of confidence.”

The Wine
White pear and fresh apricot with notes of quince, ginger and citrus. It’s lively and intense with a textural round mid-pallet and hints of Basque cheese cake and fresh cracked macadamia nuts.

Drinking beautifully at release, it will continue to develop with bottle age and careful cellaring.

Reviews
95 POINTS - JENI PORT (HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION)
”A new wine to the Grower Soil Series range. Hand-picked fruit, whole-bunch pressed, fermented wild on full solids then matured 7 months in (30% new) French oak. Quite a compelling single-vineyard wine; a juicy celebration of chardonnay with impressive complexity. Nougat, apple, nectarine and honeysuckle aromas invite further inspection. Once in, be prepared to be seduced with a fine line of racy acidity tied to concentrated, lively fruit. Quite mouth-watering.”

The Wine
Bright with green highlights and a lifted nose of fresh pine-lime splice and nutmeg.
The palate is creamy with stone fruit and Girl Guide biscuits on the finish.
Drinking beautifully at release, it will continue to develop with bottle age and careful cellaring. Suggested serving temperature 8-12C
