The Wine
There’s no direct route to the Lansdowne Vineyards. No matter how you approach it you will need to tackle some of the most rugged and picturesque parts of the hills. As you get closer to Forreston the landscape opens-up and you are welcomed to a country side of rolling hills, orchards, and vineyards.

You would be mistaken if you thought it was just another vineyard as you approach it, because it’s what lies beneath that makes this vineyard unique! The vineyard has this blue-black cracking clay, (a high iron content clay) and the vineyard is blessed with cold yet frost-free nights.

The cool nights give this wine its vibrant bright green hue, its citrus /key-lime pie characters, and a wicked acidity.

The clay brings richness, depth on the palate and mineral flintiness from the iron content. The natural ferment, malo and oak work we do in our cave, add further complexity!

Drink/cellar to 2028.
Serve 9-11C, cooler in warm weather
12.0% alc/vol.

The Winemaking
Hand-picked on the 5th April and made at CRFT Carey Gully winery. Whole-bunch pressed to tank then transferred to oak for wild ferment on full solids. Matured in 100% French oak, 20% new. Full wild MLF with regular lees stirring. 6 months in oak.Bottled Oct 2023. Vegan friendly.
