Piccadilly Valley wine sub-region

Our winery, Tasting Room and Arranmore Estate lie in the heart of the small yet mighty Piccadilly Valley wine sub-region — a 24.2 square kilometre designation on Kaurna and Peramangk Country, within South Australia’s Adelaide Hills wine region.

The Piccadilly Valley wine sub-region was officially designated in April 2000, for its rare soils and specific micro-climate.

The subregion spans a short distance from Summertown in the north and Stirling and Aldgate in the south. Yet it packs a punch in the wine world.

This area sits at the highest altitudes in the Adelaide Hills — many Piccadilly Valley vineyards are located between 500m and 600m above sea level, compared to around 400m across the rest of the Adelaide Hills.

This means fruit ripens in some of the coolest growing conditions in Australia. And with a whopping 1,200mm of rainfall a year, there is little need to irrigate.

The Piccadilly Valley specialises in the production of cool-climate wines, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
